Questions

Will KDP accept my file?

The PDF follows the trim, bleed, margin, font and page count rules on KDP's help pages, and every page is checked against them while the PDF is written. KDP reviews every book, so upload the PDF as your manuscript and page through KDP's print previewer before you publish.

Do I need Excel, PowerPoint or InDesign?

No. Open the HTML file in a browser. It runs offline on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook.

Does it make covers?

No, it makes the interior. It shows the spine width for your page count, which you need for the cover.

Does it work for hardcovers or Kindle ebooks?

No. It makes paperback interiors. Hardcovers have their own trim sizes and page limits, and ebooks use a different format.

Can I sell books made with it?

Yes. The pages, puzzles and embedded fonts can go into books you sell. The app itself is for your own use and may not be shared or resold.

Is there a free version?

Yes. KDP Interior Studio Lite makes lined, dot grid and graph paper interiors in 6 x 9 and 8.5 x 11.
