A Dynamic Island for Windows: live status at the top of your screen

Ada is a small pill at the top centre of your screen that shows what matters right now: the song that is playing, a running timer, a download in progress, your laptop charging. Hover over it and it opens into controls.

Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. Windows 11 recommended.

Ada: A Live Island for Your Windows Screen

What Ada does

  • Now playing

Spotify, YouTube in your browser and any app that uses Windows media controls, with cover art, play, pause, next and previous.

  • Timers

    One click for 5, 10, 25 or 45 minutes.

  • Downloads

Live progress from Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and Show in folder when they finish.

  • Volume and brightness

A clean bar while you change them. Brightness works on laptop screens.

  • Clipboard

A short flash of what you just copied, with password managers kept hidden.

  • Mic and camera dots

Orange when an app is listening, green when the camera is on.

  • Charging

Charging status the moment you plug in.

Who it is for

  • Laptop users who want music, timers and downloads in view without opening apps
  • iPhone owners who like the Dynamic Island and work on Windows
  • People on calls who want to see when the mic or camera is on

Questions

Is this like the Dynamic Island on iPhone?

That is the idea: a live status pill, made for the Windows desktop.

Does it get in the way of games and videos?

No. It hides itself in full-screen games, videos and presentations, and clicks pass straight through everywhere except the pill.

Does it replace the Windows volume popup?

Ada shows its own bar. Windows 11 does not allow hiding its own popup, so you may see both.

Does Ada send anything online?

No. There is no account and no analytics. Everything it shows comes from your own PC.

Is this a subscription?

No. You pay once and keep it. Use it on all of your own computers, and every 1.x update is free.

Windows shows a blue warning when I install it.

Ada comes from an independent developer and is not code-signed yet, so the first time you run the installer Windows may say "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.
